The Soul that gave us a name

Blue came to us on our first wedding anniversary, July 1 2013. John and I wanted to celebrate our anniversary, but we aren't into the "usual" things that couples do like going out to dinner and such. We had already been rescuing horses and other animals, and knew there was a livestock auction that afternoon. So we decided that for our anniversary we would celebrate by saving a life. While at the auction yard we met a few horses that we felt could use some help and noted their hip numbers. I spotted a thin, dusty, defeated, elderly looking pony in the back of the pens with a little girl saddling him up. I went back to see him. The little girl brought him over to me, he just followed, emotionless, head hung to the ground. That did it, he was the one. When he was finally brought into the auction ring, he just slowly walked in with the little girl riding and two others beside him. This is where it gets bad. The two proceed to beat him! Right there in the ring! This poor pony stood there and took every whip and smack they gave him without even wincing, he quietly lay down as the auctioneer announced "look he even lays down for easy mounting". Blue came home with us that night and was shut down for a while. Now? He is a Royal goofball that is thriving and loves to ham it up for the camera!
We named him for his one Blue eye and he floats like a Feather.
